Tactical Tech is happy to announce the web release of the Portuguese version of the Audio/Video NGO-in-a-box. Tactical Tech teamed up with Casa Brasil and Estúdio Livre who worked hard to translate all the content over the last year, mostly working as volunteers.
The Audio/Video edition of NGO-in-a-Box is a toolkit that lowers the entry level for NGOs, non-profits and media activists wanting to use audio and video for social change.
The A/V Portuguese edition will also be made available as a physical toolkit in the coming months, as per other editions of NGO-in-a-box. In addition to the tools aggregated on the Audio/Video site the physical edition will also contain a localised Portuguese multimedia focussed Linux operating system.
We wish to thank the Asby family, whose generous donation in memory of their son Kerry, helped make the localisation possible.

Tactical Tech and Women'sNet are pleased to announce the web launch of the latest edition of NGO-in-a-box, the BaseBox. base.ngoinabox.org
The BaseBox is a collection of tools for the day to day running of small to medium sized NGOs. Produced by Tactical Tech in collaboration with Women'sNet, the BaseBox aims to make it easier to set up base, find the right software and learn how to use it.
Traditionally audio and video production and distribution have been cost prohibitive for most people, particularly for those in transition or developing countries. New technologies are changing that. We've put together a kit that lowers the entry level for NGOs and individuals wanting to use audio and video, introduces you to the world of FOSS as well as low-cost technology and its possibilities for transforming the balance of forces in the realm of media production.
Security Edition is available! After a few months of work, an excellent editorial team guided by our partners from Front Line rolled out the first thematic edition of NGO-in-a-Box.
NGO-in-a-Box Security Edition is aimed predominantly at human rights, anti-corruption, and womens groups, independent media and journalists. Its purpose is to help these groups, and those who work as trainers and technical support with these groups, to orient themselves with the kinds of security and protection tools they could use and the ability to easily access and try them out.
